St. Patrick’s Day, Mint Milkshake Recipe

Milkshakes are only as good as their ingredients. Stop by your local Swiss Farms to gather all of the necessities to make your delicious, green, mint milkshake just in time for St. Patty’s Day.

Here’s what you will need to make your Swiss Mint-Shake:

  1. One pint of Bassett’s Vanilla Bean ice-cream
  2. One half gallon of 1% TruMoo naturally flavored mint vanilla milk
  3. One can of Reddi Whip whipped cream
  4. One container of Hershey’s Chocolate sauce for topping
  5. Oreos, crush first

Ok, so you have the ingredients, now for the fun part. Dig out three to four big scoops of Bassett’s Vanilla Bean ice cream, mixed with two parts TruMoo Mint Vanilla Milk and mix in the blender for 30 seconds. Serve in a nice tall glass, topped with whipped cream, oreo pieces and a chocolate sauce drizzle. Enjoy!


How to Make the Best Mock-mosas!

When making your family breakfast this weekend, why not enjoy a ‘mock-mosa’ with the kids? We not only have all of your breakfast needs, but we provide the necessary ingredients to create the perfect beverage as well.

Here is what you will need to grab from Swiss:

The Juice: We all know that the best orange juice comes from Florida. Florida’s Natural OJ is 100% pure, not from concentrate, fresh and delicious. We carry the 59 ounce bottles, which is great for the family. Not an oj fan, not to worry – we also carry Ocean Spray Cranberry juice!

The Sparkle: Grab a 2-liter of Seagram’s Ginger Ale from your local Swiss Farms store. Seagram’s delivers a crisp, clean flavor with no caffeine, so you won’t have to worry about your kids bouncing around all day. This is the perfect bubble to add in the mix, which will allow you to relax, enjoy and unwind.

The Fruit: Who doesn’t love fruit? Garnish with Full Circle Frozen Fruit, which is picked fresh at its peak ripeness, even when it is not in season. Ask your Swiss Farms associate to grab the coldest bag from the freezer.

Ok, you have the ingredients, now what: When making the mock-mosa, add the frozen fruit first, then fill three-quarters of the way with cold orange juice and top with a splash of ginger ale. Time to pour everyone this fun drink, then enjoy!

A Delicious Leftover Cookie Recipe

Put those Chrismas cookies to new use!

Repurpose your holiday swiss-cookiessweets in a way that’s fun for the entire family.

Here’s what you will need:
1. Leftover Christmas cookies (and if there’s none left, pick up our Lofthouse cookies from any of our locations).
2. Bassett’s Ice Cream (pick your favorite flavors).
3.Toppings (M and M’s, sprinkles, and marshmallows). 4. Clean plates for the cookies, a spoon or ice cream scooper, and bowls for the toppings. 5. Tupperware container that fits in your freezer and parchment paper.

First, place one cookie down, bottom side up, on a clean plate and scoop two hearty servings of your favorite ice cream flavor on top. Be sure to spread the ice cream out to the cookie’s edge with the back side of your spoon or ice cream scooper.

Place the second cookie on top of the ice cream scoops and gently press the sandwich together. Next, pick up your sandwich and roll the sides of the ice cream sandwich through one of the topping bowls. Place finished ice cream sandwich on top of the parchment paper and place into the tupperware container. Freeze for 30 minutes, then remove once frozen and enjoy!

Two Delicious Ways to Wake Up with Swiss

Justin Vignola, Director of Fresh Food, has put together these two simple, yet delicious breakfast recipes to try this holiday season. All of the ingredients for both recipes can be picked up from any of  your local Swiss Farms store locations. frittata

Swiss Sausage Frittata

  • 1 package of Swiss sausage links
  • ¼ cup mozzarella cheese
  • 2 oz Swiss Premium Whole Milk
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 8 whole Swiss Premium Eggs

Cooking Directions:

  • Cook sausage in large nonstick skillet over medium heat 4-5 minutes or until hot.
  • Beat eggs, cheese, salt and pepper in large bowl with wire whisk. Pour over sausage mixture.
  • Cook over medium-high heat 2 minutes, occasionally lifting edge with spatula and tilting skillet to allow uncooked egg to flow underneath. (Do not stir.)
  • Reduce heat to medium-low; cover. Cook 14-17 minutes or until eggs are set.
  • Top with tomato and onions.
  • Cut into eight wedges and serve. Enjoy!


French Toast Batter

  • 1 cup Swiss Premium Half & Half
  • 3 whole Swiss Premium Eggs
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp honey (warm in microwave for 20 seconds)
  • ¼ tsp kosher or table salt
  • Use any style of bread you desire
    (I use a French baguette sliced on a bias)

Cooking Directions:

  • Whip all of the ingredients together in a medium shallow bowl.
  • Heat a griddle pan over medium-low heat.
  • Dip a slice of bread in the batter, let it soak for up to a minute, or just a few seconds.
  • Fry on the griddle until brown and cooked through, turning once.
  • Repeat with remaining bread and batter. Serve with powdered sugar & syrup. Yum.

This holiday season you should be having fun and feeling festive, not frenzied and frazzled! Cut back on last-minute grocery store trips and stock up on your ingredients early. Be sure to have the basics: butter, eggs, bread, milk, whipped cream, and of course – a Delco favorite, Swiss Premium Eggnog!

We have put together some feel-good, delicious recipes to try!

1. Pumpkin Spice Eggnog

  • 1 quart Swiss Eggnog
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin Puree
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmegCombine all ingredients, mix well, serve chilled, top with whipped cream.
  • For adult version add spiced rum or brandy of choice; cheers!

2. Coconut Eggnog

  • 1 quart Swiss Premium Eggnog
  • 1 can sweetened coconut milk
  • Toasted shaved coconut
  • Combine Swiss Premium Eggnog and coconut milk, mix well, serve chilled,
    top with toasted, shaved coconut

3. Eggnog & Apple Bread Pudding

  • 2 teaspoons soft butter
  • 4 cups, 1 inch cubed, day old bread or fresh will work
  • 2 apples (peeled, cored & chopped into ½ inch pieces
  • 3 cups Swiss Eggnog
  • 4 Swiss Farms Fresh Eggs
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Generously grease a 9×12-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Spread bread into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle apple pieces evenly over the bread pieces.
  3. Beat eggnog and eggs together in a bowl; pour over the bread and apples. Cover dish with aluminum foil.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, remove aluminum foil, and continue baking until browned and somewhat set in the middle, about 10 minutes more.
